GEELONG will investigate the incident that marred its amazing come-from-behind victory over Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.
Moments after Zac Tuohy's goal after the siren, which handed the Cats a thrilling two-point victory, a wild brawl erupted in the stands.
Close to a dozen supporters from both clubs exchanged punches and kicks for close to a minute before security arrived.
It is believed a verbal attack sparked the physical clash, which took place in the standing-only terrace section.
Geelong released a statement on Sunday, reading: "Football is an inclusive sport and every supporter that attends a game should be able to do so in a safe and enjoyable environment.
“Violence has no place in society, let alone at a game of footy.
“We will work with all appropriate parties to review what occurred. Once this has been completed we will be able to determine if any action will be required by the club."
Similar incidents have occurred at Etihad Stadium, the MCG and Adelaide Oval this season, while a man was glassed at GMHBA Stadium during the Cats' round 10 clash with Carlton.
