NO.1 DRAFT pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan left Western Bulldogs fans salivating with a five-goal haul as Footscray turned in a massive second half to trounce an understrength Greater Western Sydney by 72 points at Blacktown International Sports Park on Thursday night.
Competition for spots in the Bulldogs’ AFL line-up is fierce and those looking in from the outside piled the pressure on the incumbents with a 13-goal to two second half that turned a thrilling contest into a walkover.
Patrick Lipinski responded to his axing with 35 disposals and a goal in a best-on-ground display as VFL footy took the national centre stage, while fellow omissions Ben Cavarra (20, one goal) and Lewis Young (19, eight marks) were also prominent.

Will Hayes (28), Mitch Wallis (23), Louis Butler (20, two goals), Mitch Hannan (three goals), Jordon Sweet (37 hitouts, two goals) and draftee Dominic Bedendo (two first-quarter goals) also shone.
Defenders Buku Khamis and Charlie Cormack hauled in 11 marks each, while forward Cody Weightman (17, one goal) was lively playing up the ground.
Son-of-a-gun Rhylee West was the catalyst for the eight-goal third-quarter burst, booting three majors and setting up several others, but most Bulldog eyes were on Ugle-Hagan.

He only had eight kicks and three marks, but provided a strong target with only missed opportunities costing him a bigger haul than his 5.2.
GWS stuck with its fancied opponents in an entertaining first half with just nine AFL-listed players, before being swamped in the third term and failing to score in the last as Footscray finished with 121 more disposals and 63 inside-50s to 35.
Jesse Hogan showed he is ready for an AFL recall with 11 marks and four majors to follow last week’s three-goal effort, ruckman Kieren Briggs competed hard with Sweet to have 31 hitouts, six marks and a goal and former Academy members James Peatling (23 disposals) and Billy Clark (22) could also hold their heads high.
