The Match Review Panel has released its findings from week three of the finals
The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the weekend’s matches. The following charge was laid:
Charges Laid:
Jarryd Roughead, Hawthorn, has been charged with a Level One Engaging in Rough Conduct Offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction), for engaging in rough conduct against Cam Guthrie, Geelong Cats, during the fourth quarter of the First Preliminary Final between Hawthorn and the Geelong Cats, played at the MCG on Friday September 20, 2013.
In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and medical report from the Geelong Cats Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.
Other Incidents Assessed:
Contact between Hawthorn’s Grant Birchall and the Geelong Cats’ Matthew Stokes from the third quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The ball was handballed in the air and Stokes jumped to take possession of the ball. Birchall comes to the contest and meets his Geelong opponent after Stokes has taken possession. The contact was solely to the body and there was no forceful high contact made. No further action was taken.
