Harry Cunningham – 6
Ran all day to try and provide the link between defence and attack for the Swans. Pumped the ball into the forward line five times and had two score assists.
Adam Goodes – 8
What a champion. Started superbly but had to cope with booing and worse from the fans. But he looked a class above on many occasions around the ball. Generally made good decisions with the ball but blew a couple of golden chances.
Heath Grundy – 6
Won or drew his duels with various Freo talls sent his way. Professional, whole-hearted effort. Looked a bit sore by the end of the match.
Dan Hannebery – 8
Sluggish early then worked his way back to be one of the best on the field. Carried a big load without Kieren Jack and Luke Parker but was still the one winning the ball and trying to find goals late in the match.
Isaac Heeney – 4
Unable to get a touch for much of the match and turned it over when he did. He improved in the final term and had chances to kick two goals – but he missed. One of them, a left-foot snap that clipped the post, would have got the Swans within touching distance. The other was a set shot that he needed to nail.

Brandon Jack – 4
Quiet game held up by his five tackles. Had minimal impact and would be nervous this week about holding his spot for the semifinal.
Lewis Jetta – 5
He had patches where he found space to drive the ball inside 50 from his wing but was generally well held. They needed more from this proven match-winner.
Zak Jones – 4
Started as substitute but was on the field six minutes into the second term. He didn't have a huge impact on the game.

Josh Kennedy – 9
Phenomenal game from a Swans great. His 16-possession third quarter was one of the best seen at the ground. Fought against the odds against Fyfe, Mundy and Neale in close, to a losing ruck combination but emerged as the best player on the ground. He had 39 disposals, eight tackles, eight inside 50s and three score assists.
Jeremy Laidler – 6
Faced some tough opponents and didn't always come out on top but was pretty good on the day. He even got forward and booted an important goal from beyond 50m in the second term to keep his side in touch at half-time.
How big is this kick! Jeremy Laidler kicks an important long goal. #AFLFinals #ohwhatafeeling http://t.co/NBmwDqP1gZ

Jake Lloyd – 5
Wasn't great with the ball in his hand. Of his 20 disposals plenty were turned over or not kicked to advantage. Looked a bit stagestruck with a sea of purple jumpers in front of him.
Ben McGlynn – 5
Needed to do more. He missed his only two shots at goal – Ballantyne and Walters nailed theirs. His work when in the middle was below his best as well and he didn’t win a clearance all day.
Jarrad McVeigh – 9
Superb leadership kept the Swans close enough when they were up against it in the first half. He then dragged his teammates along as they surged late. Only blemish was a quiet second term but another outstanding effort from the Swans star. Had a game-high 10 tackles.
Jarrad McVeigh stop it! One of the best goals you'll see this year! #ohwhatafeeling #AFLFinals http://t.co/k4Dm5U3Fj6

Tom Mitchell – 8
Relentless at the bottom of the packs. Stood in where Kieren Jack and Luke Parker would have normally been with aplomb. Hit the post with one snap at goal. The failure of he, Hannebery and Kennedy to hit the scoreboard might have been crucial in the final analysis.
Mike Pyke – 4
Faced a giant challenge against ruck goliath Aaron Sandilands and lowered his colours. Five possessions and 11 hit-outs was a poor return for the ageing warrior.
Dane Rampe – 7
Played much of the game on Chris Mayne and kept him in check. Kept a pretty cool head under the heat of a final.
Sam Reid – 3
The key forward was arguably the Swans' best player when he got subbed off just after quarter time. He had kicked a goal and was giving Michael Johnson the run-around. It was a crucial blow not just for the Swans' chances in this game but for their hopes of progressing further this year.

Ted Richards – 7
Renewed hostilities with Matthew Pavlich and kept him goalless. Faced numerous one-on-one contests with the Fremantle champion and generally blanketed him superbly.
Gary Rohan – 3
Dreadful game wherever he played, topped off by a kick out on the full in the final term under no real pressure when the Swans were desperately trying to steal it.
Rhyce Shaw – 8
One of his best finals in his final year. Shaw was bold, dashing and tried hard to be creative all day, even when the Swans were close to sinking. He is sprinting towards the finish line of a pretty good career when it looks like he could definitely go around again.
Kurt Tippett – 8
He was the Swans' most effective ruckman and their most effective forward with three goals. Add in five tackles and three clearances and it adds up to one of his best games in the white and red.
Dean Towers – 7
Breakout game across half-forward in the absence of Franklin and with Reid going down early. Booted 1.2 and had two score assists but faded as the match wore on and couldn't strike the killer blow late in the game.
