MATT de Boer's career revival has continued with the former Fremantle midfielder signing a two-year contract extension with Greater Western Sydney.

The 27-year-old was cut by the Dockers at the end of 2016 but was given a lifeline by the Giants with pick No.58 at the NAB AFL Draft.

He went on to play 15 games this season, including the Giants' three finals, to establish himself as a regular member of the senior line-up.

He is now committed to the Giants until at least the end of 2019.

"Matt has been an outstanding contributor to our football club since his arrival 12 months ago," Giants football manager Wayne Campbell said.

"He was a valuable player both on and off field in 2017 and he sets an incredibly high standard around the club.

"A consummate professional, the way he prepares and trains leaves us with no doubt he can continue to play a high standard of football for at least another two years.

"Matt was an important leader for us in 2017 and we're thrilled to have him at the Giants again."
De Boer has played 153 games since making his AFL debut with Fremantle in 2009. The club's first-to-fourth year players will resume pre-season training on November 20.
