Josh Hunt says a year of watching footy from the sidelines gave him a new appreciation for the game.

Speaking on CATS TV’s FRIDAY CONVERSATION, Hunt recalled the disappointment of blowing out his ACL in the 2009 NAB Cup grand final and how that allowed him to gain a new insight into the game.

“It gave me another perspective on footy,” Hunt said.

“Watching from the box I saw how guys went about the game. I found a new appreciation for Joel Corey and his work rate, and how hard Joel Selwood runs and all the little things you don’t see at ground level.

“It gave me a different outlook on footy and the way guys play the game.”

Hunt also discusses:

  • His kicking prowess
  • Leaving home at 15 to play TAC Cup with Bendigo
  • Getting drafted by Geelong and his early years at Skilled Stadium
  • Switching from a forward to a defender
  • The 2007 premiership
  • Recovering from his ACL injury
  • Watching the 2009 campaign from the sidelines
  • Life away from football.
