TALENTED young Bomber Zach Merrett is in doubt for the remainder of 2015 after being sent for scans on an injured foot.
Merrett complained of soreness in his foot after the loss to the Western Bulldogs on Sunday and was sent for an MRI that showed he had a significant stress reaction in his foot.
Club doctor Bruce Reid told the Bombers website if a subsequent scan showed a crack in his foot then Merrett would miss the rest of the season.
"We'll find that out in the next couple of days," Reid said.
Match preview: Giants v Bombers
The 19-year-old has been one of the shining lights at the Bombers in 2015, playing every game to follow on from his impressive debut season last year.
Key defender Michael Hurley remains in doubt after missing last week's clash with a minor medial ligament strain in his knee.
"Hopefully he gets up this week," Dr Reid said.
In better news for the Bombers, Heath Hocking and David Myers moved closer to an AFL return after playing well in the VFL while veteran Dustin Fletcher has shown he may be over the abdominal complaint that has kept him sidelined since May.
"He's starting to turn the corner so with a bit of luck we can get a few sessions in to him so we can start considering picking him again," Dr Reid said.
