The Match Review Panel has released its findings from the weekend's games
The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the weekend's matches. The following charges were laid:
Charges laid:
Leroy Jetta, Essendon, has been charged with a level one engaging in rough conduct offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for engaging in rough conduct against Ben McGlynn, Sydney Swans, during the third quarter of the Round 10 match between Essendon and the Sydney Swans, played at the SCG on Saturday June 1, 2013.
In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Sydney Swans Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of one match suspended within the last two years, which does not impact on this offence. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.
Other incidents assessed:
Contact between Fremantle's Cameron Sutcliffe and Adelaide's Rory Laird from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said Laird has picked up the ball and is disposing of it when Sutcliffe bumped him. It was the view of the panel the majority of contact was to the body and there was minimal high contact made. The force of the high contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between St Kilda's Sam Fisher and North Melbourne's Lindsay Thomas from the first quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. Fisher uses a pushing motion and makes contact with his opponent in the goal square. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.
