HAWTHORN has confirmed that one of its players was taken to hospital after an incident on Saturday morning.

Media in Melbourne is reporting that Travis Tuck, 22, was found unconscious in his car in outer surburban Berwick and was taken to a nearby hospital.

A police spokesman said a small glass jar containing clear liquid was found along with drug paraphernalia in a search of the car.

Tuck, the son of Hawks legend Michael, has appeared in 20 matches since his debut in 2007, but has not been selected for a senior match in 2010.

In a statement on Monday night, Hawthorn said the welfare of the player was the main focus of the club.

”The player was discharged from hospital into the care of his family following an incident in the early hours of Saturday morning,” Hawthorn chief executive Stuart Fox said.

“The club and the player’s family will continue to support the player to ensure his personal health and welfare is secured. The club has notified the AFL of the incident and will keep them fully informed if any more information comes to light.”

In a statement, the AFL said it was investigating the incident.
