FOUR games into his AFL career, Geelong recruit Tim Kelly has received high praise from teammate Patrick Dangerfield – comparing him to Collingwood star Daniel Wells.
The 23-year-old, recruited from South Fremantle with pick No.24 in last year's NAB AFL Draft, has turned heads with his poise in his debut season.
"He's been pretty average for a first-year player, hasn't he?" Dangerfield joked on K-Rock.
"As soon as he started training you knew that he wasn't any first-year player.
"He's such a smooth mover. He really reminds me of Daniel Wells, to be honest, with the way he moves around the packs (and) how things slow down for him."
Wells joined to Collingwood at the end of 2016 after 243 games for North Melbourne, regarded as one of the best kicks inside 50 in the competition.
Kelly's move east was made even bigger after he and partner Caitlin welcomed twins Trey and Tariq to join older brother Tykeem.
"It's pretty impressive considering he's got three kids at home to look after as well," Dangerfield added.
"He's handling it all really well at the moment, TK."
Last week coach Chris Scott said Kelly's first month of football had exceeded expectations.
Ahead of a clash with Port Adelaide on Saturday, Kelly is averaging 22 disposals, five inside 50s and kicked five goals this year.
