GEELONG midfielder Cam Guthrie will be sidelined for a fortnight after suffering a minor calf strain against Hawthorn in the opening game of the JLT Community Series.

The 24-year-old left the ground in the first quarter and scans revealed his injury was likely to keep him out of the Cats' next match against Adelaide on Sunday, March 5.

However Cats football manager Steve Hocking told krockfootball.com.au that defender Lachie Henderson was still in line to play in a fortnight after copping a corkie against the Hawks.

"Lachie [Henderson] has an abdominal and hip corkie," Hocking said.

"He will train later this week and potentially be available for Adelaide."

Cats skipper Joel Selwood could be in line for selection for his first game for the pre-season in Adelaide while Jordan Murdoch is also a chance to be considered.

The Cats' Scott Selwood missed the first match due to a stress reaction in his toe and his progress will be monitored to determine whether he should play in the second or third match of the pre-season series.
