KEVIN Sheedy will only have to move a few metres as he starts out on the next step of his football journey.
The inaugural coach of Greater Western Sydney, Sheedy will switch from the locker room to the boardroom next year when he becomes a director of the club.
The four-time Essendon premiership coach and three-time Richmond premiership player, considered various roles in the game before choosing to remain with the Giants.
"In many ways Kevin Sheedy is the father of the Giants. He's been here from the start and has helped build the Giants," said club chairman Tony Shepherd.
"I'm thrilled that he will be joining the board as well as taking on a broader day to day role with the club as we enter the next important phase of our development.
"His vast knowledge and experience, his tremendous energy and his profile across Australia will ensure he will continue to be a great asset for the Giants."
Sheedy will have broad responsibilities and will continue to work with the club's corporate and community supporters both in western Sydney and Canberra.
"Helping to start the Giants four years ago has been one of the most exciting things I have done in my career and I have unfinished business," he said.
Sheedy coached the Giants in their first two seasons for just three wins and handed the reins to Leon Cameron at the end of last season.
Thrilled to be staying with the GIANTS. Want to build this into one of the biggest sporting clubs in Australia.
