GREATER Western Sydney key forward Jonathon Patton is a late withdrawal from Saturday's clash against Gold Coast Suns at Spotless Stadium with a hip injury.

He was replaced in the selected side by Sam Reid.

Patton, 23, copped a heavy knock to the joint during the Giants' loss to Adelaide last week.

The No1 pick in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft pick, who earlier this year signed a contract extension to remain with the Giants until the end of the 2020 season, has battled several injury woes in his short career.

Patton enjoyed his best season in the AFL last year, booting 38 goals in 23 games. However, he looked limited against the Crows at Adelaide Oval last week.
