“On behalf of the AFL, I would like to congratulate the four teams who have progressed through to the Preliminary Finals – it is a great achievement when you reflect on the challenges the pandemic has presented this season,” Mr Auld said.

“Both Preliminary Finals shape up to be great contests and we have worked to ensure the teams participating in Week Three of the finals have a minimum seven-day break leading into their respective match.”

Mr Auld said Melbourne and the Geelong Cats will continue to serve their quarantine periods in Western Australia before meeting at Optus Stadium on Friday night while the Western Bulldogs will travel to Perth on Sunday morning and will remain in Western Australia before travelling to Adelaide ahead of their match against Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

“The AFL, together with all teams participating in the 2021 Toyota AFL Finals Series, have agreed to strict travel arrangements and other protocols as approved by respective State Governments.

“The Western Bulldogs’ travel arrangements have been made in close consultation with the club and aim to minimise any risk ahead of their Preliminary Final.

“On behalf of the AFL, I would like to thank all Clubs, players, coaches, staff and their families, umpires, AFLPA, fans, broadcast and commercial partners, venues and all State Governments for their ongoing support of the 2021 Toyota AFL Finals Series.”
