“… THERE comes a time where we need to move on.”
With these words after Adelaide’s 56-point loss to West Coast, interim coach Scott Camporeale gave his players the go-ahead to attack the rest of the season.
Adelaide sits 7-6 with a Showdown next Sunday and winnable games on the run home against Gold Coast, the Brisbane Lions, Essendon, Geelong and West Coast (at home).

Finals are still on the agenda.
The words of pride from Camporeale post-match were for the way the players handled the emotion of the aftermath of the death of coach Phil Walsh – and competed manfully.

But the sting in the tail was the strong message that they have a lot of work to do.
“I couldn’t be any more proud about their preparation and the way they attacked the game, we played good footy in patches,” Camporeale said.

“There were a lot of firsts for the players and they’ve been through a lot. They were just keen to get out there and play again and get that one out of the way.
“We’ve still got a fair bit of work to do and we’ll still be striving with the same vision that we set out with at the start of the year.”
But he conceded every player would react differently for the rest of the season.
“That’s the million-dollar question, we have 45 different guys who had different relationships with Phil, different emotions about the situation but what we’ve put in place … we’ve got the support mechanisms behind the players and there comes a time where we need to move on.

“We need to keep getting better, we need to keep buying into what we are going after and we need to keep training what we’re going after and we don’t deviate from that.”
Camporeale said the Crows faced a clear choice after being belted in the second term, outscored 8.7 to 0.1 to go into half-time 40 points behind.
“On a personal note for these guys to reset themselves, they probably could have thrown the towel in I guess and said it’s too hard today but as a group and as a footy club, particularly Phil he wouldn’t have wanted that,” he said.
“So we had a man conversation at half-time about what we needed to do to get back into the game … I couldn’t have been prouder of that third quarter.”
