HAMISH Hartlett says he will look at his options after he was told by Port Adelaide that he would not be offered a new contract for 2022.

Hartlett, a member of the club's leadership group, said he felt like he had another year or two in him and would consider moving interstate if there was interest.

He said there was no bad blood between him and Port Adelaide.

"I've got nothing but love for the club," he told radio station SEN SA.

Power star goes bang from beyond the arc

He said he "firmly believed" he could play some good football at AFL level.

Joel Garner was also delisted on Tuesday, while former Magpie Tyson Goldsack, who was on the club's rookie list this year, will move into a full-time role as a development coach.

Hartlett, 31, played 193 games for the Power, including 10 this season, but missed the club's finals campaign which ended with a 71-point preliminary final loss to the Western Bulldogs.

He won the Showdown medal in 2014 and the Peter Badcoe medal - for the player who best exemplifies the Anzac spirit in the club's annual Anzac round clash - in 2013.

"I had a chat with Kenny (Hinkley) and [football manager] Chris Davies yesterday and Kenny pretty much just said that there won't be a contract there for me next season for a couple of reasons," Hartlett said.

"One, physically he doesn't think I can keep up with the demands of the game, particularly in the position I play across half-back against players that are quite lively.

"He just doesn't feel like I can keep up with those kinds of players anymore.

"And also the development of some of our younger guys coming through which has been quite exceptional the last two or three years. He just doesn't feel there's a position on the list for me anymore."

Hartlett said he understood the club's decision but believed he still had more to give at AFL level.

"I didn't necessarily agree with them, but I can understand the angle that they're coming from," he said.

Hartlett was recruited with pick No.4 in the 2008 national draft.

Meanwhile, Garner, who was drafted at pick No.60 in 2017, played just four senior games - all in 2019 - but struggled for more opportunities in 2020 due to the club's inability to participate at SANFL level.
