WEST Coast is seething about the damage caused to the surface of Domain Stadium following a One Direction concert.
The state of the ground has forced the club to train away from its base for the past three weeks, a timeframe the Eagles have now agreed to delay an extra five days to allow the grass time to recover.
The Eagles were due to return to train on the ground on Monday, March 9
The concert also forced the Eagles' match against the Indigenous All Stars on February 20 to be held at Leederville Oval.
Domain Stadium is scheduled to host its first match of the season on March 22 when Fremantle play West Coast in the final NAB Challenge clash.
The first home and away fixture at Domain Stadium is scheduled for April 5.
"I'm just looking at patches everywhere," Eagles coach Simpson told 5AA on Wednesday night.
"I'm really worried about the ground being available for when we've got Fremantle in a couple of weeks.
"We can't train here at the moment. It's not great for our club, for what we spend and how we use this as a home base. So we're quite disappointed. The ground is meant to be ready by Monday."
Domain Stadium manager Gavin Taylor provided AFL.com.au a statement on Thursday evening regarding the state of the ground.
"The ground has been independently tested today (March 5) ahead of West Coast's booking for training on March 9 and meets AFL minimum standards," Taylor said.
"While the turf meets AFL minimum standards, West Coast has agreed not to return to training on the ground until Friday, March 13. This will allow more time for the germination of new rye grass.
"Over the last fortnight, significant renovation work has occurred on the turf in preparation for seeding of rye grass. Over two tonnes of rye grass has been oversewn onto the oval."
The ground is owned and operated by the Western Australian Football Commission (WAFC).
The ground plays host to a number of major sporting events. The last concert held before the boyband was in January 2014.
WA football is scheduled to move away from Domain Stadium with construction of the new Perth Stadium at Burswood on track to be completed for the start of the 2018 AFL season.
West Coast is also set to move to a new purpose-built training facility at Lathlain Park which is due to be ready ahead of the 2018 season.
