The Ballroom at the Country Club Tasmania played host to 300 special guests celebrating Hawthorn Football Club’s 10 Years in Tassie Dinner on Saturday 7 May.
Guests were treated to a delicious three-course meal prepared by the Country Club Tasmania and enjoyed Ninth Island wines throughout the night.
The night’s official proceedings began with a video presentation put together by Southern Cross Media that highlighted the 10 wonderful years that Hawthorn has been playing home games in Tasmania.
On-show was the 2008 premiership cup which toured Tasmania with the team to celebrate the victory.
President Jeff Kennett addressed guests on the future of the Club’s partnership with the Tasmanian government, while VIP guests Peter Hudson and Ian Dicker spoke of the beginning of the AFL Taskforce in Tasmania and its progress, from initial discussions in 2000 to the present-day deal with Hawthorn that ensures AFL games are played in Tasmania.
Surprise entertainment The Three Waiters - David Gouldson, James Egglestone, and Paul Biencourt impressed the audience with a comedy opera about French passion, Italian love and the loveless and passionless songs from the Spanish.
The 2011 celebration Five Decades of Flags was recognised by MC Peter Murphy followed by a video presentation with footage from each of the 10 premiership years.
The 10 Years in Tassie Celebration Dinner was a huge success.
