ESSENDON is strongly considering adding another Irishman to its list, with Gaelic football prodigy Jordan Morrissey impressing the Bombers with his testing at last week's NAB AFL Draft Combine. 

AFL.com.au understands the County Carlow product is a strong chance to be added the Bombers' list a Category B Rookie, joining defensive playmaker Conor McKenna as a recruit from the Emerald Isle. 

The club's recruiters feel the 19-year-old's athletic attributes will suit coach John Worsfold's run and gun game-plan. 

Regarded in his homeland as a great leader who has a very professional approach to his training, Morrissey progressed straight from junior ranks to the Carlow senior team this season and made an immediate impact.

Morrissey, who stands at 185cm and 76kgs, finished equal third in the goalkicking test at the Combine, recording a score of 24 behind Collingwood's Next Generation Academy prospect Isaac Quaynor's perfect score of 30. 

While didn't run his best with a time of 3.13 in the 20m sprint test, the defender has demonstrated his speed with searing runs in Ireland's indigenous game.

Morrissey is the third Irishman to be linked with AFL clubs recently, with AFL.com.au reporting last week that Collingwood and St Kilda had shown significant interest in key-position prospects Anton Tohill and Mark Keane.

With such a dearth of talls locally, talent spotters are impressed with the duo's physical attributes and competitive nature. 

The trio, along with countryman Pierce Laverty, met and trained with Essendon, Collingwood, St Kilda, Geelong and Hawthorn last week while in Melbourne for the Combine.
