ADELAIDE has confirmed that interim senior coach Scott Camporeale will remain with the Crows as a senior assistant coach for the next two years.
Camporeale stepped into the senior coaching position following the death of Phil Walsh but has decided not to pursue the position for 2016.
Instead his senior assistant role will see him responsible for the Crows' midfield.
Camporeale coached the club in its last 11 games of 2015.
He told adelaidefc.com.au the time wasn't right for him to be a candidate for the senior job full-time.
"Coaching is more demanding than many think and it is a lifestyle rather than a job," he said.
"I want to make sure I can devote enough time to my wife and young children so in the end it was an easy decision.
"Recent months gave me valuable insight into my own ability and the role of senior coach itself, and it is something I may certainly consider down the track."
The Crows won six of the home and away season's last nine games to qualify for their first finals campaign, and beat the Western Bulldogs in an elimination final before losing to Hawthorn last weekend.
Speaking on Triple M on Thursday morning, the club's football director Mark Ricciuto said Camporeale's decision not to seek the permanent senior coaching position was based on a desire for work/life balance.
"He's got a young family … and he's got a successful building business on the side as well," Ricciuto said.
"He's got a few things on the go and when you're head coach you're 110 per cent committed, you don't have anything going on to the side and sometimes your family [suffers] if you don't quite get the work/life balance right.
"It's good news if he does want to stay on as senior assistant, and I think we can watch this space over the next few days."
Reports of potential coaching candidates for the Crows have focused on Collingwood assistant Scott Burns, West Coast assistant Don Pyke, North Melbourne assistant Leigh Tudor and Sydney Swans assistant John Blakey – although Pyke and Tudor remain involved in the finals race.
Pyke is considered a favourite for the position, with Adelaide to announce a permanent successor to Walsh in coming weeks.
