MELBOURNE'slist manager Tim Harrington has been made redundant as CEO Peter Jacksoncontinues to implement his agenda at the club.
Harringtonwas removed as the club announced it would advertise a newly created role of generalmanager of football operations.
JoshMahoney is acting in that role until the position is filled and is considered acandidate for the position.
Harringtonbegan at the Demons in 2009, filling the position for three exchange and draftperiods.
Melbourne'srecruiting in recent years has been widely criticised.
Jacksonsaid Harrington would leave immediately, but he insisted the decision was costrather than performance related.
"Tim has workeddiligently in his role for more than four years at the club, and I'm certain hewill find another productive role in the AFL industry. I would like to thankTim for his contribution during his time at the Melbourne Football Club," hesaid.
Harringtonplayed 48 games with North Melbourne,Collingwood and Footscray between 1984 and 1990, playing both his first andfinal game against the Demons.
He moved into coaching at the Western Bulldogs,then the Kangaroos before becoming football manager at Arden Street.
Harrington'sdeparture was expected after the club sacked CEO Cameron Schwab in April.
Sincethat decision the club's president Don McLardy, coach Mark Neeld and nowHarrington have gone.
Theclub appointed a new recruiting manager, Jason Taylor, in December after ToddViney filled the role during 2012.
