ST KILDA has received a boost ahead of deciding on its squad to face Geelong after tough forward Mav Weller and ruckman Billy Longer trained well at Thursday's main session.
Weller was set play his first AFL game of the season last week before hamstring tightness ruled him out of the clash against Adelaide, while Longer also missed that game after copping a knee to a groin against North Melbourne on Good Friday.
However, both appeared to move well and seem set to be available this weekend, with the Saints to name their 26-man squad to face the Cats on Thursday night.
Midfielder Koby Stevens won't play this weekend as he deals with an illness that kept him off the track.
He was dropped to the VFL side last week.
Triple Trevor Barker Award winner Jack Steven spent some time early in the session away from the main group as he continues to deal with a niggling left ankle injury, but joined in for the match simulation and full ground drills, indicating he will almost certainly be right to line up against Geelong.
Steven went down to the rooms and had his left ankle re-strapped during the 49-point loss to the Crows but returned to the field to play out the game, and amassed 28 disposals while spending 78 per cent of the match on the field.
It's the same ankle he hurt in the Saints' final JLT Community series clash, against Melbourne.
Key defender Nathan Brown temporarily left the field at Moorabbin, but returned to finish the session.
Courageous left-footer Daniel McKenzie ran laps as he recovers from a nasty concussion suffered while playing for Sandringham last Saturday, and will miss at least a couple of matches.
Tim Membrey was not sighted on the track as he recovers from a right knee injury. He has already been ruled out for the clash with Geelong.
