JARED Polec will miss the remainder of the season to nurse his troublesome foot, but Port Adelaide says the midfielder will resume running duties this week.
The 22-year-old, who hasn't featured for the Power since round five, fractured the navicular bone in his left foot earlier this season and has endured a slow rehabilitation.
In a positive, Port Adelaide high performance manager Darren Burgess said recent scans revealed Polec's foot was recovering well, but the club would continue to take a "no risk" approach.
"It's a load-bearing bone, so it's going to be a slow process for 'Polly', but the good news for him is that we think it's healing well," Burgess said in a statement on Monday night.
"He's had two scans in the last four weeks … and he's about ready to put some load on to it and run – we'll start that process this week.
"We will continue to take a 'no risk' view of the management of Jared's foot given his age and long-term value to the team."
Polec has played 29 games for the Power since being recruited by the club from the Brisbane Lions at the end of 2013.
The wingman was placed on the Powers' long-term injury list in May.
