WEST COAST has dropped premiership forward/ruckman Nathan Vardy for Sunday's clash against former side Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

The Eagles have run out of patience with the big man who will go into the game against the Cats with just one recognised ruckman – Tom Hickey.

Tall utility Jarrod Brander comes into the team for the third game of his career and his second this season, with Oscar Allen expected to help Hickey out in the ruck.

Midfielder Jack Redden has also been ruled out of the clash with a foot injury, with Daniel Venables recalled for his first game since round two as the replacement.

The Cats will welcome back star defender Zach Tuohy for his first game of the season after an interrupted pre-season due to a knee injury, with exciting draftee Jordan Clark managed after impressing in his first five matches.

Tuohy returned via the VFL last weekend and gathered 14 touches and used the ball effectively in about three-and-a-half quarters of game time.

Geelong has also recalled emerging youngster Charlie Constable, after he was rested for the Easter Monday clash with the Hawks, in place of Brandan Parfitt who will miss with a quad complaint.

The Hawks have swung the changes for Sunday's game against Carlton in Launceston, dropping David Mirra, Harry Morrison and Conor Nash.

Captain Ben Stratton returns after being a late withdrawal against Geelong due to concussion, while important midfielder Liam Shiels also comes back into the side after injuring his hamstring against the Western Bulldogs in round two.

Utility Tim O'Brien will also play his first game for the season against the Blues.

Carlton has recalled emerging superstar Charlie Curnow after he was a late withdrawal for the Blues' first win of the season against the Western Bulldogs last Sunday.

The younger Curnow replaces Cameron Polson in the team, with the Blues to unleash a four-pronged attack for the second time this season with Harry McKay, Mitch McGovern and Levi Casboult to provide plenty of headaches for the Hawks' defence.
