PREMIERSHIP midfielder Toby McLean has capped off a remarkable year by signing a two-year contract extension with the Western Bulldogs that ties him to the club until 2019.
The tenacious 20-year-old forced his way into the Bulldogs line-up during the finals series after Lin Jong broke his collarbone in the elimination final.
He did not let the Bulldogs down with an excellent three finals, his return even more meritorious given he'd been sidelined for most of the second half of the season with a foot injury.
McLean, who was pick No.26 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, was outstanding in the final quarter of the preliminary final against Greater Western Sydney and played his role in the Grand Final against the Sydney Swans.
He told westernbullogs.com.au he was rapt to extend his time at the club.
"I don't think there's any place I'd rather be," McLean said.
McLean has kicked 16 goals in 19 games with the club.
The Bulldogs have locked in a number of their young stars during 2016 and look set to be a contender for the next few seasons as they attempt to back up their drought-breaking premiership.
