MELBOURNE defender Heritier Lumumba is back in full training and will return to football in 2-3 weeks after concussion forced him to miss the last six rounds.
Lumumba, 29, last played in round six against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
Coach Paul Roos told the club's website that the veteran's situation was similar to that of midfielder Angus Brayshaw, who has had his own struggles with concussion.
"'H' is terrific, so it’s great that he’s back in full training. He got the all clear last week to resume," Roos said.
"He's a bit like Angus – it’s a bit more about his fitness levels, even though I’m sure he’d be pushing to play this week.
"We’ll see him back in the next two or three weeks, which will be really, really good."
Melbourne face the Swans at the SCG on Sunday afternoon before having a bye the following week.
Christian Salem's struggles with a thyroid problem continue. The defender was dropped after the Demons lost to the Western Bulldogs in round eight and hasn't been seen at senior level since.
"Christian is still waiting on blood tests and that’s a real medical situation at the moment and he’s getting a little bit frustrated, because he’s not feeling too bad," Roos said.
"But the doctors are holding him back, based on blood tests and levels."
