WEST Coast veteran Sam Butler missed the Eagles' main training session on Wednesday and appears unlikely to be fit to face Collingwood at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The 29-year-old was selected to play against Adelaide last Saturday night, but was withdrawn 24 hours before the match with a hip strain he suffered at training last week.
Butler completed some light running on Monday, but failed to train during the Eagles' main training session on Wednesday.
Eagles general manager of football Craig Vozzo told the club's website on Tuesday that Butler would be tested later in the week.
The 2006 premiership defender, who has had a history of soft tissue problems, has missed two of the past three matches after playing 10 of the first 11 this season.
The Eagles modified the size of Domain Stadium on Wednesday to replicate the shorter dimensions of Etihad Stadium.
They put makeshift goals 15 metres in front of the normal goalposts at the city end of the ground.
Liam Duggan trained fully after he was rested last weekend and will be available to play this week.
Youngster Alec Waterman trained on Wednesday despite being unavailable to play at the moment as he continues to recover from a bout of glandular fever.
Waterman averaged 21 disposals across his eight WAFL appearances for East Perth this season, but Vozzo told the club's website that the Eagles will be conservative with Waterman and there is no set date for his playing return.
Tom Lamb is also back to full fitness after missing nine weeks following minor knee surgery. Lamb has played modified minutes in East Perth's reserves side over the past two weeks.
Damien Cavka, the Eagles' fourth pick in last year's NAB AFL draft, has been sidelined for four weeks after suffering another stress injury in his foot.
