GAVIN Taylor has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Western Australian Football Commission.
The appointment comes after a three-month search to replace Gary Walton, who stood down from the role at the end of January.
Taylor had been the general manager of Perth Stadium Management, the company that ran Domain Stadium under the ownership of the WAFC.
His appointment comes at a crucial time for WA football with AFL games being moved from Domain Stadium to the new Perth Stadium at the start of 2018.
The WAFC is currently housed at Domain Stadium but is looking for a new administration home and has already entered discussions with the WACA to look at a potential co-sharing arrangement in the future.
WAFC chairman Murray McHenry said Taylor's appointment was very important for WA football's immediate future.
"We look forward to Gavin helping the Commissioners guide the WAFC through a period of substantial change that will ultimately see us focusing solely on running and developing football throughout Western Australia, as our role in managing the state's major stadium comes to an end," McHenry said.
"Our primary goal is to see the state's largest sporting code continue to grow in the years ahead and retain the financial strength necessary to ensure anyone who wants to play or participate in football has an opportunity to do so."
