Moore, who will be selected by the Magpies as a father-son pick with the ninth selection overall at the NAB AFL Draft later this month, is at a Magpies training camp at Falls Creek in the Victorian Alps.
Speaking on SEN radio on Wednesday morning, Moore said he was only starting out on what he hoped would be a long journey through AFL football.
"A lot of guys say they want to play in round one or play 'x' number of games for the season, but that doesn't motivate me," he said.
"I'm just here to learn. It's week one of my first pre-season."
Moore was a standout player with the Oakleigh Chargers and is the son of two-time Brownlow medallist Peter Moore.
He is a 199cm key position player who has shown an ability to play at either end of the ground.
Moore described his first week with the Pies as 'awesome' and said he was enjoying the camp with Collingwood's other first- to fourth-year players.
"It's been a good opportunity for myself, one week into a being a Collingwood player. It's a pretty handy experience to have."
Moore has just completed the first year of a commerce degree and will decide by early next year whether to undertake a reduced study load next year or to defer entirely so he can concentrate on football.
