The Swans' bus broke down on its way to the hotel where the players are staying in Melbourne, prompting players to travel to the ground either by taxi or tram.
Assistant coach Stewart Dew said the team's match preparations had not been affected, with all the players at the ground no more than 10 minutes later than planned.
"The bus didn't rock up, and about 12 boys jumped in cabs and in the end they jumped out and got the tram," Dew told AFL Live.
"It was pretty interesting. I texted Daniel Hannebery and he said, 'We bailed from the cab and we're in a tram and we’re on our way'.
"I actually think we get to the ground way too early. I kept thinking, 'brilliant we don’t have to sit around in the change rooms killing time'."
