Kade Simpson has been nominated for the 2007 AFL Goal of the Round for his wonderful solo effort against Melbourne at the MCG last Sunday. The goal was a reflection of his outstanding game and the wonderful leadership he displayed in his role as acting captain for the match. He had 29 possessions for the game including a game high ten inside 50s and ten kicks in the last quarter as he led by example in a desperate effort to get the Blues over the line.

Simpson showed his customary turn of speed on the Southern Stand wing and then evaded two Melbourne players before kicking a long goal that not only excited Carlton fans but gave the Carlton players plenty to celebrate. It was inspirational play completed with a wonderful long goal - one that deserves to be the Round 14 Goal of the Round.
