ESSENDON forward Michael Hurley is a chance to play against St Kilda after scans cleared him of serious damage to his right wrist.

The Bomber left the field clutching his wrist in the dying stages of the team's win over Fremantle on Friday night after throwing himself into a marking contest.

While his teammates celebrated the emotional win, Hurley was helped from the ground with a team trainer bracing his wrist, and was rushed off to the rooms immediately. There were fears he may have broken the same wrist that was operated on last year.

Hurley had scans on Monday morning, and the news was positive, according to club football operations manager Steve Alessio.

"He has had some scans and they have ruled out any broken bone which is great news as we thought there might have been some issues with his wrist," Alessio told essendonfc.com.au.

"He will train during the week, test out the wrist which is still a bit sore from the fall and hopefully he comes up ready and raring to go for the St. Kilda game this weekend."

It's a different story for veteran Dustin Fletcher, who was subbed out of the clash against Fremantle with groin soreness.

"Fletch’s groin was a bit sore and he wasn’t able to complete the game, we think that he will be doubtful for the St. Kilda game," Alessio said.
