ADELAIDE'S forward line is shaping up to be a scary proposition for the rest of the AFL, with Josh Jenkins declaring he is "fit and firing" in the lead up to round one.
Jenkins kicked a career-best 62 goals last year and played all 24 games for the Crows despite battling a foot injury in the latter part of the season.
The 28-year-old said it would be a relief to not be spending most of his week in the lead up to games getting his foot right to play, after having a clean-up operation late last year.
"I finished last year pretty sore, as most guys did, and got that taken care of. That's AFL footy, you get those from time to time, but nevertheless it had slowed me down a fair bit," Jenkins said.
"It's just good be running out playing games 100% fit and feeling good. I take plenty of confidence into the season knowing my body's in great shape."
Jenkins kicked nine goals in his two JLT Community Series matches, and attributed his good form to his fellow forwards.
"We're quite fortunate with our group we can play some quite powerful football.
"The six forwards and the guys that rotate through there, we've got some really good cohesion and we all benefit from each other."
While Taylor Walker is battling hamstring tightness and is a possibility to miss round one, the combination of the captain, Tom Lynch, Eddie Betts and now fully fit Jenkins is one set to cause opposition headaches all year.
"At any one time, barring disaster, there's still going to be three or four of those guys – throw Mitch McGovern and Charlie (Cameron) in there as well – anyone who comes down there knows the expectations of the playing group.
"There'll be plenty of guys (midfielders) who come through there and we think with the group we've got down there we can always make it work."
