WEST Coast star Mark LeCras has had a plate inserted to his right arm after it was fractured against Fremantle on Saturday night.
LeCras is likely to miss a month while he recovers from the surgery, which took place in Perth on Monday.
LeCras clashed heavily but fairly with Fremantle's Tendai Mzungu in the third term of the Dockers' 28-point win at Patersons Stadium.
West Coast defender Eric Mackenzie also limped off the field with what coach John Worsfold described as a "low-grade hamstring".
The Eagles said on Monday Mackenzie would miss two weeks, meaning he will miss the Eagles' round two clash against Hawthorn.
"It's terrible for him," Worsfold said of the LeCras injury following the match.
Eagles vice-captain Beau Waters said LeCras would be sorely missed but had plenty of time to have an impact in 2013.
"He has worked tirelessly to get back ... whatever time he misses he can make up for on the back end of the season," Waters said.
"Not once did he wallow about his injury, he worked on areas he thought he could improve – he got fitter and faster and stronger and he has got that real passion and aggression back.
In further Eagles injury news, Nic Naitanui, Daniel Kerr and Sharrod Wellingham have each had their training loads increase.
