THE CAREER of Adelaide forward Jason Porplyzia has come to an end after 10 seasons at the club.
The 29-year-old played 130 games for the Crows, kicking 180 goals to be ranked 10th in Adelaide's all-time goalkicking list.
"This was a tough decision, leaving a club full of so many great people," Porplyzia said.
"However, I am also looking forward to the next chapter of my life and exploring my passion for the physical performance field.
"I want to thank all my teammates and coaches that I have had the privilege of playing and working with throughout my career. A special thanks to Neil Craig, who gave me my first opportunity to realise my childhood dream and play AFL.
"I also want to acknowledge my partner Becky, my family and friends for their ongoing support."
Adelaide list manager David Noble described Porplyzia as a skilful player who won the hearts of teammates and fans.
"Jason was courageous, team orientated and most importantly, a quality individual who was a coach’s dream," Noble said.
"He also possessed a strong overhead mark and was one of the most reliable shots on goal.
"Unfortunately, injuries prevented him from playing more games, particularly, early in his career."
Over his 10-year career, the 29-year-old was plagued by shoulder injuries and required two reconstructions.
Porplyzia's best season came in 2009 when he played every game for the first and only time of his career, leading the Crows' goalkicking and winning the Coach's Award.
He began his career at West Lakes as an 18-year-old rookie in 2003 but was unable to break into the senior side and was eventually delisted.
After impressing at SANFL club West Adelaide, the forward was handed a second chance by Adelaide in the 2006 pre-season draft and made his AFL debut in round five against the Western Bulldogs where he kicked three goals.
Porplyzia joins Ben Rutten as the second Crow to retire this year.
Meanwhile, the club has delisted forwards Jared Petrenko and Lewis Johnston.
Their departures follow the delisting of ruckmen Shaun McKernan and Angus Graham.
A fan favourite, Petrenko played 76 games for the Crows after making his debut in 2009 but he managed just five senior appearances this year.
He famously booted Adelaide's winning goal out of mid-air with just seconds remaining against North Melbourne in round nine last season.
AFL.com.au understands the 24-year-old is keen to resurrect his career at another club.
Like Porplyzia, Johnston has also battled ongoing injury woes.
Last year a broken leg robbed him of an opportunity to stake his claim in the absence of Taylor Walker and he missed another 13 weeks this season due to hand surgery.
The 23-year-old forward was credited by football legend Barrie Robran as having the best set shot at goal he'd seen, but despite dominating at SANFL level, Johnston wasn't able to cement his place in the Crows' AFL line up.
Johnston played eight games for the Crows in his three years at West Lakes and two for the Sydney Swans in 2011.
