A strong preseason gave John McCarthy hope of cracking into the senior lineup and it appeared he did when he was elevated for the round three encounter against St Kilda.  A poor team performance saw him return to the VFL where he injured his hamstring and missed six consecutive weeks.  McCarthy returned through the VFL and showed reasonable form averaging 26 disposals in his final seven VFL matches.  Managed one final senior outing in round 22 to take his career tally to 10 AFL games.

2010 highlights
Round 18 v Gold Coast: Collected 28 possessions and six marks playing through the middle. Gavin Brown made a point of acknowledging his efforts after the 50-point win.
