GEELONG will be without Paul Chapman for Friday night's preliminary final clash with Hawthorn, after the veteran accepted his one-game sanction for rough conduct on Tuesday morning.

Chapman was cited by the Match Review Panel on Monday for a high bump on Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray during last week's semi-final win.

He would have been risking two weeks on the sidelines had he decided to take his case to the AFL Tribunal.

In accepting a reduced ban, the 2009 Norm Smith medallist will now have to hope the Cats can secure a 12^th straight win over the Hawks, which would see him available for the following week's Grand Final.

Speaking to AFL.com.au on Wednesday morning to discuss whether to accept the MRP penalty, Chapman queried whether the game was getting softer and admitted he was frustrated with the match review process.

Sydney Swans defender Ted Richards accepted his reprimand for rough conduct against Carlton's Levi Casboult and will be available to face Fremantle on Saturday evening.
