NORTH Melbourne, Geelong and St Kilda are the clubs most likely to snare Gold Coast midfielder Josh Caddy, with Carlton expressing little interest in the homesick young star.
The three clubs have all shown interest in the 20-year-old who quit the Suns last month, citing a wish to return home to Victoria.
It had been reported that the Blues were in the race for Caddy's services, but they have not contacted his management.
For Caddy to change clubs, Gold Coast needs to agree to what they believe is a suitable trade.
He is believed to be keen to ensure they are adequately compensated.
Essendon tried to recruit Caddy at the end of last year but they could not come to an agreeable trade with the Suns.
This year the Bombers have little to offer, with their first draft pick already committed to giant forward Joe Daniher under the father-son rule.
As St Kilda finished the season as lowest of the three clubs, it has the most to offer in terms of draft picks.
As it stands, the Saints have pick 12 and are likely to have pick 13 as part of the compensation for losing Brendon Goddard to Essendon as part of Gillette AFL Free Agency Period.
Geelong has a future first-round pick pick up its sleeve as part of the compensation it received for losing Gary Ablett to Gold Coast at the end of 2010.
Caddy was drafted by Gold Coast with pick seven at the 2010 NAB AFL Draft. A foot injury kept him to two senior matches in his debut season before playing all 22 this year.
He finished seventh in voting for the NAB AFL Rising Star.
