ADELAIDE could be without key defender Daniel Talia for Thursday night's crucial clash with Geelong due to a foot injury.

The dual All Australian will have scans on Monday but the club is hopeful it isn't the dreaded Lisfranc injury.

Talia went into the rooms at quarter-time during Friday night’s clash with Richmond for it to be assessed, before returning to play out the game under some duress.

THE RUN HOME How the contenders are shaping up

Teammate Richard Douglas is also in doubt, after he rolled his ankle late in the game and limped from the field.

Essendon's loss to Collingwood was further soured by injuries to Patrick AmbroseJake Stringer and David Myers, and all three could miss the Bombers' round 17 assignment with Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium.

Ambrose will definitely miss, after he pinged a hamstring in the second quarter and was done for the day, Stringer has a tight calf and will be assessed, while Myers also has a calf issue and will be monitored.

The Dons will be hoping Orazio Fantasia, who was a late withdrawal because of a groin complaint, is fit to board the plane north.

Hawthorn will be without Ben McEvoy for Saturday's match against Brisbane in Launceston.

The gun ruckman suffered a fractured cheekbone in the final term of the Hawks' win over the Bulldogs and is expected to miss a few games.

Collingwood will keep a close watch on in-form forward Will Hoskin-Elliott, after he hurt his right knee late in the first quarter of Sunday's win.

FROM THE TWOS  Magpies trio get through unscathed

Hoskin-Elliott went into the rooms before returning, but spent much of the afternoon on the bench. When he was on the ground he appeared inconvenienced.

Magpies coach Nathan Buckley said post-game that Hoskin-Elliott has a badly bruised leg.

Young Pie Flynn Appleby will miss the clash with West Coast on Sunday, after he went down with a right hamstring injury late in the match.

Carlton may be without Caleb Marchbank for Friday night's meeting with St Kilda, with the luckless defender sent to hospital for an elevated heart rate following the Blues' loss to Brisbane.

Andrew Phillips (hamstring) and Jacob Weitering (calf) are also unlikely to face the Saints, but the Blues could regain Kade Simpson who was a late out with a calf complaint.

Richmond's depth will be tested when it travels to face Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium on Saturday night.

The Tigers will be without Jack Graham (dislocated shoulder), Nathan Broad (depressed cheekbone fracture) and Dan Butler (ankle).

THINGS WE LEARNED Dons' past has caught up with them

The Giants will monitor Harry Perryman, who came off in the final quarter of the loss to West Coast with hamstring tightness.

Sydney's loss at home to the Cats was further compounded by injuries to Jarrad McVeighDan Hannebery and Kieren Jack.

McVeigh has undergone surgery after suffering a broken collarbone and is expected to miss at least a month, Hannebery strained his calf and is expected to miss three weeks, while Jack has a grade one medial strain in his left knee and will be assessed ahead of Sunday's meeting with North Melbourne.

North's Cameron Zurhaar spent most of the final quarter of Sunday's win over Gold Coast on the bench because of an ankle sprain, and is no certainty to come up for the Sydney clash.

Port Adelaide will head to Perth to tackle Fremantle on Sunday minus Tom Jonas, after the star defender suffered a significant knee injury in the third quarter of Port's win over St Kilda.

Suns co-captain Steven May hurt his hip in a marking contest just before half-time, and although he played on, he was hampered by the issue and will likely need to tick a few boxes before they host the Bombers.

The Western Bulldogs will be hoping Aaron Naughton and Lachie Hunter are fit to face Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday.

Naughton hurt an ankle in the loss to Hawthorn, while Hunter copped a knock on the knee in the fourth quarter.
