The AFL has released the names of the 79 players invited to the 2019 NAB AFL Draft Combine, with 45 players from the NAB League Boys competition selected to attend the event to be held in Melbourne from Tuesday October 1 to Friday October 4.

Vic Metro has the largest list of invitees with 23 players selected to take part in the Combine, followed by Vic Country with 21 players and Tasmania with one.

Father-son-eligible Sandringham Dragons player Finn Maginness (son of dual Hawthorn premiership player Scott) will take part in the Combine, along with the 11 NAB AFL Under-18 All Australian selections from the NAB League: Noah Anderson (Oakleigh Chargers), Lachlan Ash (Murray Bushrangers), Sam De Koning (Dandenong Stingrays), Sam Flanders (Gippsland Power), Brodie Kemp (Bendigo Pioneers - pictured, second from left), Fischer McAsey (Sandringham Dragons - pictured, left), Mitch O’Neill (Tasmania Devils), Matthew Rowell (Oakleigh Chargers - pictured, second from right), Caleb Serong (Gippsland Power), Cody Weightman (Dandenong Stingrays) and Hayden Young (Dandenong Stingrays - pictured, right).

AFL Clubs are asked to each select a list of their 50 preferred players to attend the Combine, with invitees all receiving nominations from at least four clubs.

The Combine will assess each player’s strength and skills through several tests including the 20-metre sprint, agility test and vertical jump.

AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan said the Combine is an opportunity for players to showcase their skills before the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.

“The Draft Combine sees the best players from across Australia gather to showcase their abilities both physically and mentally in front of club recruiters,” he said.

“Clubs receive a final chance to assess players from their skills testing at the Draft Combine, and they are able to conduct one-on-one interviews across the week to analyse the personalities of the players.

“The on and off-field assessments assist AFL clubs in making their decisions for the upcoming NAB AFL Draft in November.”

The NAB AFL Draft Combine will move from Marvel Stadium for the first time since 2011, with the new venue to be confirmed by mid-August. The state combine selections will be announced later in the month.
