WEST Coast has locked away two key emerging talents, re-signing midfielder Dom Sheed and defender Jackson Nelson on two-year contract extensions until the end of 2019.
After starting the season in the WAFL, left-footer Sheed has been important in the Eagles' improved engine room output in recent matches.
The 22-year-old hasn't missed a game since round five and is developing into one of West Coast's most consistent performers, averaging career-best disposals (22.3) and clearances (3.7) this year.
Nelson started the season on the fringes of the best 22 but his pace and hardness across half-back have been assets for coach Adam Simpson.
The blossoming 21-year-old Victorian, who is close to resuming from a minor hamstring injury, looms as a key part of the Eagles' future.
"We're obviously very happy that both Dominic and Jackson have committed to the club for the next few years, having both taken their games to another level this season," football manager Craig Vozzo said.
"They're both important parts of the club's future and we're excited with where they can take their careers.
"Dominic is becoming an integral part of our engine room and Jackson's toughness and ball use across half-back has been impressive.
"Both boys have tremendous upside and we look forward to watching them grow in the coming years."
Sheed played his 50th career game in Saturday's crucial away win over the Western Bulldogs after being drafted from Subiaco with pick 11 in 2013.
The inside midfielder finished third in the NAB AFL Rising Star award two years ago, but managed just six appearances last year in a campaign ruined by a torn pectoral.
Nelson has 27 career matches under his belt after being recruited from the Geelong Falcons with a bargain pick 51 in the 2014 draft.
He is among a host of Eagles pushing to return against Port Adelaide this Sunday.
Skipper Shannon Hurn (concussion/hamstring), spearhead Josh Kennedy (calf/Achilles), Matt Priddis (soreness), Mark LeCras (hip), Josh Hill (illness) and Will Schofield (hip) could all be available after missing the Dogs clash.
