COLLINGWOOD midfielder Adam Treloar will take on his former club Greater Western Sydney on Saturday, despite not training on Thursday.

Treloar completed light laps away from the main group as he looks to manage his loads after pre-season groin soreness.

"(I'm) just staying on top of my body. I know it's only round one but it's a long season," he told AFL.com.au.

"If I'm unnecessarily training, I don't really need to, so I just did a bit of running around the boundary line, went inside for some rehab and looking forward to the game on Saturday."

Teammate Chris Mayne, who coach Nathan Buckley suggested was in the selection frame on Tuesday, ran laps away from the main group.

It is believed he is nursing a corkie following last week's VFL practice match against Box Hill.

Daniel Wells wasn't spotted after playing a half in the practice match in his comeback from Achilles soreness. He is expected to ramp up his minutes in the next VFL hit-out against North Melbourne on Saturday night.

Forward Jamie Elliott joined in match simulation as he builds up his running after off-season ankle surgery.

Jordan De Goey, in his second week back at the club, trained strongly in his return from a hamstring complaint.

Midfielder Levi Greenwood completed a session away from the main group, his left knee heavily strapped as he continues to recover from surgery.

Meanwhile, forward Will Hoskin-Elliott was momentarily brought to the ground, running into the club's media camera before continuing the match practice.

The Pies will have at least two forced changes for the team to take on the Giants – tall Mason Cox suspended for rough conduct and defender Josh Smith sidelined with a hamstring.
