GREATER Western Sydney has officially snared inexperienced forward Jed Lamb from the Sydney Swans after selecting him with the first pick in the NAB AFL Pre-season Draft. 

Lamb was the only player taken in the pre-season draft after the other clubs eligible to take part decided to add players to their rookie lists rather than their senior lists. 

The pre-season draft was completed in less than 30 seconds.

The 21-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Giants. 

Lamb announced his decision to defect from the Swans to the Greater Western Sydney around five weeks ago, but he was required to join his new club via the pre-season draft after a suitable trade could not be arranged. 

Having joined the Swans as a first-round selection (pick 21) in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, Lamb had to wait until this year to make his AFL debut. 

He played 12 games for the Swans, kicking nine goals.

Lamb joins a host of other recruits that the Giants have claimed from rival clubs, a list that includes ex-Collingwood defender Heath Shaw, former Swans ruckman Shane Mumford and ex-Geelong backman Josh Hunt. 

The rookie draft will now commence, with ex-Collingwood and Sydney Swans ruckman Darren Jolly among the players hoping to extend their careers. 

Jolly has been linked with St Kilda and Essendon, while former Gold Coast midfielder Maverick Weller has been linked to the Saints.
