The Essendon Football Club has a reputation as a leader in the Australian sports industry, with a rich history spanning more than 140 years. Driven to be recognised and respected as the most successful sporting club in Australia, both on and off the field, we are now seeking a Head of Commercial Partnerships to join our team.
Reporting to the General Manager Commercial Operations, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and management of strategic team business plans
- Building influential relationships with key clients and relevant stakeholders
- Identifying opportunities to forecast future business and sponsorship growth
- Ensuring innovative and professional client servicing standards are maintained
- Actively targeting new commercial and non-traditional partnership opportunities
- Managing the professional development and annual review process of Commercial Partnerships team members
- Managing the team budget and Board reporting process
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- Tertiary and or/post graduate qualifications in commercial or related field
- Extensive experience in sales, advertising, marketing and brand development, preferably operating within a professional sporting organisation
- Experience in successfully managing a diverse team, including demonstrated success in achieving team and project and cohesion in line with a strategic direction
- Proven leader with strong financial and commercial acumen, and negotiation and problem solving skills
- Ability to think outside the square bringing innovative and creative thinking to the role
- Possess strong planning, analysis and financial modelling skills
- Highly developed communication skills and proven ability to build and maintain relationships
- Capable of working a wide array of hours with a varying time schedule to suit the seasonal priorities of the football industry
