SydneySwans legend Paul Kelly on Thursday night added Hall of Fame inductee to his already-impressivelist of honours.
Swans Team of theCentury Vice-Captain and Brownlow medallist Kelly was awarded one of AFL's mostprestigious awards in a memorable ceremony at the Palladium Room in Melbourne.
The honouris a fitting tribute to Kelly, who in his twelve years at the Swans played 234games for the club, and captained the team for a decade. Kelly won the Brownlow medal in 1995, wasnamed club champions four times, and was selected in three consecutive all-Australianteams.
Since hisretirement in 2002, Kelly has continued his close affiliation with the Swans, sittingon the Board of Directors in 2005 and 2006, and supporting an annual footballcompetition for school children in NewSouth Wales named in his honour.
Eightfellow greats of the game were named as inductees, including five-time Hawthornpremiership player Robert DiPierdomenico, Adelaide's Darren Jarman, SouthMelbourne player Frank Johnson, former West Coast star Dean Kemp, legendaryEssendon player Michael Long, former Collingwood captain and coach MurryWeideman and Port Adelaide (SANFL) administrator Bob McLean.
Melbourne premiership coach Norm Smith waselevated to legend status, an honour bestowed on only twenty other players inthe history of Australian football.
