THE AFL will schedule three games at ANZ Stadium next season but remains open to moving them to the SCG if a new super trust approves it.
If the proposed stadium trust - which would see the NSW Government control both the SCG and ANZ Stadium - comes into play, it will be after the release of next season's fixture.
The 2016 home-and-away season fixture will be announced on Thursday, after the release of the NAB Challenge schedule on Tuesday.
The AFL confirmed on Tuesday that ANZ Stadium – in the final year of its current deal with the League – has been pencilled in to host three games for premiership points next year.
But AFL general manager broadcasting, scheduling and major projects Simon Lethlean said the matches could be moved if the new trust dictated it.
"That would be a call for the new trust, which is being set up next year," Lethlean said.
"I'm not across all the details of those timings but if ANZ and the SCG agree on something different, we can transfer the games if the SCG is available.
"I think the ANZ, SCG and the trust relationship is evolving across the course of next year.
"At this stage, we're scheduling at ANZ ... and haven't sought to do anything differently.
"At this stage we'll announce on Thursday where the games are at ANZ."
It's no secret the Sydney Swans would prefer to play exclusively at the SCG rather than at the Homebush ground, which is shared with the NRL.
The stadium has come under fire a number of times for its playing surface, which came to a head in round 16 this year when four bolts were left exposed on the boundary.
Hawthorn forward Jarryd Roughead escaped serious injury when he slid into the uncovered bolts, which were "partially obscured during the pre-match by the netting used behind the goals during the warm-up period".
