INJURED Greater Western Sydney defender Matt Buntine has become the latest player to recommit to the club after signing a new two-year contract.
Buntine, who was due to come out of contract at the end of this year, has just started his rehabilitation from ACL surgery, and won't play again this season.
The 23-year-old played the opening two games of 2017 before being dropped, then limped off the training track the following week, where it was discovered he had a partially torn ACL that he'd been playing with for some time.
Buntine told the Giants' website that he was excited to extend his time at the club.
"Like many of the other boys, it was a pretty easy decision to stay," he said.
"Sydney is my home now and the Giants are like my family. I couldn't think of a better place to continue my footy, especially after the setback with my knee.
"The club showed a lot faith by offering me a new contract and I'm excited to get stuck into my rehabilitation and repay that faith in the coming seasons."
Buntine joins Dylan Shiel, Jonathon Patton, Zac Williams and Adam Tomlinson, among others, in choosing to re-sign with GWS this season but star midfielder Josh Kelly, forward Devon Smith, and young guns Jacob Hopper and Matthew Kennedy are amongst those yet to put pen to paper beyond this year.
