CARLTON'S horror 2015 season has caused further backlash, with the AFL dumping the Blues from next year's Friday night schedule.
The Blues failed to win any of their six Friday night games this year, losing by an average margin of 75 points.
Their worst performance came in round 17 when they were handed a 138-point thrashing at the hands of Hawthorn.
As a result, the wooden spooners won't feature on a Friday night in the 2016 season.
Carlton boss Steven Trigg told the Herald Sun it was a disappointing outcome for the club.
"We don’t like it and it's an almighty backhander, but there's an old saying in footy and it's you get what you deserve," Trigg said.
"It's fair to say what we served up on Friday night fixtures last season didn't help.
"We were expecting some sort of change but to have to have zero is in stark contrast to the year before.
"There is some context, I'm told there are five or six teams above us [on the ladder] with no Thursday or Friday night fixtures either.
"So, it's not the sole territory of the Blues."
Despite being erased from the Friday night time slot, the Blues have kept what is becoming their traditional MCG opener against Richmond on Thursday, March 24.
The majority of Carlton's games in 2016 will be played in the afternoons with the Blues' focusing on attracting families back to the football.
Meanwhile, Melbourne and Richmond's bid to retain their Anzac eve clash has been successful.
The League will unveil its 2016 fixture on Thursday with the Demons and Tigers scheduled to play a one-off Sunday night match (April 24) at the MCG on the eve of the public holiday.
The inaugural Anzac eve clash between these two clubs last year drew a crowd of 58,000.
As is tradition, Collingwood and Essendon will play in the stand-along Anzac day blockbuster at the MCG.
Fremantle and Port Adelaide have also won the rights to host games over the Anzac weekend.
