The talented 28-year-old Adelaide midfielder has been a constant subject of trade discussions, even after winning the Crows best and fairest in 2009.
AFL.com.au understands that Vince met with the Demons for the first time on Friday for a preliminary chat as part of the process as to whether he would join the club.
Adelaide has denied it has put Vince on the trade table but as a player capable of providing value in exchange for early draft picks, the Crows would be expected to consider a trade if it was the right offer.
They would also be happy to hang on to him as he is contracted and played 21 games in 2013. However he did not finish top 10 in the Crows best and fairest this year and struggled for consistency.
The Demons have made no secret of its need to get some midfielders into its squad but was ideally looking to secure talented players under 24.
However Vince would add some experience if he chose to continue his career with Melbourne. He has played 129 games and kicked 80 goals and is known as a big game player.
Both Melbourne and the Crows refused to comment when contacted by AFL.com.au.
The Crows Ricky Henderson is also known to be open to the option of returning to Victoria. His name had been linked with Collingwood but the Magpies suspect it might be hard for them to find a suitable trade with Adelaide.
The Demons have also been linked with Essendon's David Myers but the Bombers were adamant earlier in the week that he would remain with the club.
