Brodie Martin’s specialist has confirmed the Crows wingman will not need another knee reconstruction.

Scans revealed the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee was intact and not torn - as initially suspected when Martin hurt the knee during Friday’s NAB Challenge game against Carlton at Visy Park in Melbourne.

He will miss one or two games before returning to training.

“It’s great news for us and Brodie, but particularly Brodie,” said Phil Harper, Crows football operations general manager. “He was obviously distraught on Friday night but then the scans were done and the ACL appeared fine.

“Hopefully he will be back training next week.”

Martin, who needed a knee reconstruction late in the 2009 season after just his second AFL game, hurt the knee early in the third term of yesterday’s NAB Challenge game against Carlton at Melbourne’s Visy Park.

He played on before having his left knee checked during a spell on the bench. The 22-year-old wingman or half back returned to the AFL for the last two games last season.
